  • In a guest blog for Solar Power Portal UK, Georgina M. Public Affairs and Policy Lead, highlights that the UK should be proud of its BESS safety record, but there’s more to do to reassure sceptics. Georgina outlines why the industry needs to engage and establish the facts around BESS safety by developing greater transparency through community engagement, political engagement and collaboration with local fire services. Read more from Georgie, here >https://lnkd.in/ecrGghKD Interested in joining the conversation on how the BESS industry can strengthen public and political engagement? Join us at Labour Party Conference for a session with Michael Bogdan, Partner at Lockton, Ana Musat, Executive Director, Policy & Engagement, RenewableUK and more to be announced, on Tuesday 30th September 2025 between 9:30-11:00am at Madre, 6, Atlantic Pavilion Albert Dock, Liverpool L3 4AE (outside the secure zone, no conference pass required). • We welcome today’s Transport Select Committee report, ‘Buses connecting communities’, setting out the key reforms needed to reverse the decline in passenger journeys in England, outside of London, over the last decade. The report emphasises the need for longer-term thinking and greater financial certainty for operators, and demonstrates an understanding that franchising will require new skills to be brought into local government departments.   It notes the need to create a “a virtuous cycle” whereby “investment in measures to improve journey times and reliability […] promotes patronage and brings down operating costs,” and key to that thinking should be a review of electrification and how electric can bring down the total cost of ownership of a fleet when compared to diesel. This approach will not only drive the best outcomes for communities but is also the best use of public finances.   The Committee’s recommendation that Government sets five-year settlements for both capital and revenue funding is encouraging. However, the best way for transport authorities to make sustainable improvements with confidence will be by determining a clear cut-off date for the sale of diesel vehicles. The current commitment suggests 2032 as the latest date to end their sale, but this is ambiguous and does not allow bus operators to forward plan in the most effective way.   Read the report’s findings, here > https://lnkd.in/eXh7777w   #transportselectcommittee #busesconnectingcommunities #report

Britain will keep a single national electricity market, with the existing system set to be reformed from within rather than redrawing the map.   So, what’s next? A key area of focus will be on transmission charges, known as TNUoS, designed to guide where energy projects are built. However, the planned timeline, stretching to 2029 is far too slow and doesn’t reflect the speed at which the battery industry is moving, with 6GW of capacity already deployed in Britain without subsidies.   In this blog, Georgina M., Public Affairs and Policy Lead, highlights why fast deployment of TNUoS will unlock the full potential of storage to support a cheaper, cleaner and more flexible grid, leaving Ofgem and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to focus on the long-term strategy for electricity network reform.   Read the blog here >https://lnkd.in/e7fs3Ejh #tnuos #electricityreform #insight #batterystorage

  • Today we've published our Sustainability Report 2024, highlighting the progress we've made in our approach to sustainability and our commitment to responsible management practices across the UK, Europe, North America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This is our most comprehensive sustainability report to date and is the first to be prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)'s Universal Standard 2021, the gold standard for sustainability reporting.   The report outlines our commitment to responsible management practices and our initiatives to decarbonise the power and transport sectors, underpinned by our three sustainability pillars:   ⚡ Accelerating renewables and electrification 🌍 Supporting customers, communities and our people ⚖️ Ensuring good governance   Discover how we grew the amount of carbon we displace annually by 43% in 2024, in our Sustainability Report, here > https://lnkd.in/e48_59rV   Jenny May AIEMA 🌱🌎 Megan Spurlock   #sustainabilityreport #reporting

  • We've broken ground at Dysons depot in Bundoora, Melbourne to deliver the city's largest electric bus depot 🚌 ⚡ Led by Zenobē, the project will involve the installation of a fully managed charging and battery solution to support 188 zero-emission buses to serve communities across the North and North East of Melbourne. “This project marks an important step forward for public transport in Victoria and for Australia. Our approach goes beyond depot design and equipment installation. We provide fleet operators with a complete solution that takes care of charging, bus battery health, and overall system performance for 10 years, so they can focus on running their services with confidence. Backed by our experience supporting 3,400 electric fleet vehicles globally, operators can feel confident making the switch,” said Gareth Ridge, Zenobē Country Director for Australia and New Zealand. “We are proud to be working alongside government, industry and community to lead this shift to zero-emissions buses in a way that is responsible, practical and future-focused,” said Andrew Jakab, CEO of Dysons. • Today we announced plans for The Shetland Standby Project, a 68MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lerwick in Shetland. The project will maintain security of supply for Shetland’s homes and businesses and will allow Lerwick Power Station to operate in standby only, thus cutting emissions and utilising more renewables on the islands. We secured c.£60m of non-recourse project finance debt from leading energy transition lenders Natwest, Lloyds and Siemens to fund the buildout of the project. • Zenobē raises €325 million to fund electric vehicle fleet investment as part of European expansion initiative Today we announce the financial close of a €325 million debt facility from a syndicate of global banks to fund the expansion of our electric fleets-as-a-service offering in Europe. The new financing facility, combined with existing capital, will support up to 1,000 more electric buses, electric trucks and chargers across the EU/EEA. We now have teams on the ground offering electrification services in Germany, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden. The financing facility will provide multi-currency (EUR, DKK, NOK and SEK) support across these and other EU/EEA jurisdictions to support electric buses, trucks and infrastructure. “This new facility will help us to make the cleaner option even more financially competitive – reducing any perceived green premiums and in some cases even achieving green discounts,” said Steven Meersman, Founder Director at Zenobē Read more on our website > https://lnkd.in/ef2cYxnY #evnews #evfinancing

  • The electrification transition: An opportunity for success while under pressure Fleet electrification across the US continues to gain traction, but recent shifts in federal policy and funding priorities are poised to decelerate the transition. In our latest insight, we share how private financing can help close the ‘cap gap’ the difference between the funding secured and what is needed to electrify fleets at scale. We also look at how flexible financing can help operators to manage costs and reduce financial uncertainty.
