Fareshare is a charity that tackles two critical issues – food waste and hunger.

Over 3 million tonnes of good-to-eat food goes to waste in the UK food-industry every year, which is responsible for up to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, over 13 million people in the UK are currently facing food insecurity meaning they are without reliable access to enough affordable, nutritious, healthy food.

Fareshare works with food producers, supermarkets, and suppliers to rescue surplus food that would otherwise have gone to waste and they redistribute it via local charities all over the UK. This helps provide millions of meals to vulnerable individuals and families facing food poverty.

Last year Fareshare redistributed 54,000 tonnes of food to over a million people, which saved over 95,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions and 124 billion litres of water from waste.
