Report an environmental event
An environmental event is an incident which has, or may have, an environmental impact. We often receive reports that should be directed to local authorities or other agencies. To ensure your report reaches the correct organisation, please check the what we don't do list before contacting us.
If there is an immediate threat to life, health or property, please contact the emergency services on 999.
Ongoing and significant environmental events
Use our online report form to report a significant incident to SEPA. Reports submitted online are monitored between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday. Outside these hours, you can call our pollution hotline on 0800 807 060. The automated system will triage your report and escalate urgent issues.
Once a report is submitted, it will be prioritised based on environmental significance. Read more about how we prioritise.

If you wish to complain anonymously, contact the pollution hotline on 0800 807 060 to ensure we have the required information to take action. Anonymous notifications submitted via the webform are not included in SEPA's overall events notification numbers.

We will only make further contact where necessary. In most cases you will not receive any further update from us with respect to this event. SEPA complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 and our Privacy notice outlines the way in which we use this information.
