About Us

The Cambridgeshire Deaf Association (CDA) was established over 100 years ago and is at the heart of the local Deaf Community. The majority of our staff are deaf or hard of hearing. This means that we have a deep understanding of deaf people. No other organisation offers the support and expertise that we do in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.

Many important local services that are widely available to the general public are not accessible to deaf people because they are not available in British Sign Language. This could be anything from help with benefits, accessing healthcare, protection from domestic violence or combatting isolation.

More About Us

Get Support

CDA are here for you if you need support to improve your well-being. CDA offers support courses, which provide information on different subjects; advocacy is provided by our highly trained caseworkers so deaf people can remain independent; CDA Life offers deaf people care in BSL; our befriending service uses volunteers to support deaf people in their homes and out in the community.

Our Services

We provide a wide range of services related to deafness and sign language.

We help hundreds of people learn sign language each year. Visit schools to teach pupils about deafness and sign language and help companies become more accessible for staff and customers. Our media team helps make information accessible for businesses, charities and government bodies.

Our Community

CDA was created because of the importance of a strong Deaf Community. The events and meet-ups CDA run give deaf people the chance to socialise with people in their own language and to receive vital information from CDA and relevant professionals.

Our Community

We have 6 drop-in events across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and CDA staff attend to offer additional support. They are a great way of catching up with other deaf people and to receive relevant information. Here you can see the drop-ins and come along.

Drop-in Events

Our over 50’s group meet once a month and visit really interesting places such as Duxford War Museum and Cadbury World. Find out our next meet-up and book your place!

Over 50's

CDA also runs different sports to keep people active and give people a chance to socialise. We have the Raptors basketball team, Posh football teams and regular yoga sessions. The people who already attend are a great laugh so get into contact and join us!
