First it was Oklahoma, then Chicago, now … Farnham. That’s right, this spring the historic Surrey town will become the first Best Place to Live to be turned into a musical. The award-winning composer Darren Clark, who previously wrote a musical about Maidstone, in Kent, has turned his lyrical attentions to the well-heeled commuter town, inviting locals to share their stories and recollections to feature in Ordinary People, which will be performed at the Farnham Maltings arts centre this month. Residents have been invited to audition to star in the show, and they have plenty to make a song and dance about: this is a vibrant and creative community with a rich heritage and great schools, surrounded by the rolling Surrey Hills.
