Diocesan strategy Autumn 2024
As a diocesan community, we are invited to take part in the strategy that we pray will guide us towards our vision of being 'a rejuvenating community of Jesus-centred. Kingdom-seeking disciples'. This strategy aims to tackle some of the challenges we know that we face as a diocese. So our REJUVENATING strategy aims to place children and young people at the heart of our planning, and also seeks to REVIVE, REVITALISE and RENEW our network of parishes, chaplaincies and church schools. Creating thriving churches with an emphasis on children and young people is a watermark that runs through these parts of our strategy. Watch our video, presented by Bishop Jonathan, to find out more. There are also more details on www.portsmouth.anglican.org/strategy
Discover the details about our diocese's Vision and Strategy, including our aims to REVIVE our spiritual leadership, to REVITALISE our churches as centres of discipleship and to RENEW the Church by planting new congregations and worshipping communities. Worshippers from across our diocese have told the story of Jesus's final days on earth several times. Here's some highlights from Passion Plays staged in our diocese
Church youth groups of all denominations across Portsmouth meet for monthly High Tide youth services. They've also been away for residential holidays, where they develop friendships with each other and their own faith. These videos give you a flavour of what happens. For full details, see: www.portsmouth.anglican.org/hightide
We're creating videos in which Christians from our churches can explain their own faith in their own words. It might be how they originally came to faith, how God called them to specific things, or something amazing that God has done in their lives. For more information, see: www.portsmouth.anglican.org/our-faith
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, is visiting our diocese from October 13-15, 2023. He'll be visiting schools, churches, the Isle of Wight Prison and HM Naval Base, meeting those inside and outside our church congregations and sharing the good news about Jesus. Find out more about his visit on www.portsmouth.anglican.org/archbishop, and subscribe to this channel to watch videos of him in action
Growing Faith exists to put children, young people and families instinctively at the heart of the Church of England’s ministry and mission. It involves churches, schools and households working together to create young disciples. Growing Faith will be launched in our diocese in summer 2023. Ahead of that, we explore existing projects in our diocese that already echo its themes.
We welcomed the Rt Rev Jonathan Frost as the new Bishop of Portsmouth. His appointment was announced in October 2021 and he was installed in our cathedral in March 2022.
