Easter egg hunts are soon to be scattered across Surrey from farms and royal palaces to National Trust houses, gardens, and woodlands. And organisers have asked families and youngsters to help the Easter Bunny when the bank holiday weekend and school holidays start.

From March 23 to April 14, various Easter egg hunts and activities like egg rolling are set to begin and many end with a chocolate treat. The National Trust is set to host trails at many of its sites from Box Hill near Dorking to Polesden Lacey near Leatherhead.

Hampton Court Palace is ready to open its doors for people to explore its iconic gardens in efforts to search for elusive gold bunnies. RHS Garden Wisley will also be home to weeks of giant easter egg hunts.

The National Trust teased: “Jam-packed with outdoor activities, games, riddles and crafts, every single Easter celebration is different. Designed with families in mind, each National Trust Easter trail features ten activity stations, some showcasing cheery signs of spring such as lambs and bunnies, others venturing off into the wonderful world of mythical creatures.”

It added: “Enjoy nature-inspired crafts, egg and spoon races, welly wanging, mythical creatures and much more.” Trails at National Trust sites cost £3 plus the normal admission, though this is free for members. Details for non-National Trust activities have been linked.

Gatton Park

Gatton Park near Reigate is hosting East egg hunts perfect for young children and families across the bank holiday weekend complete with activities and refreshments. Organisers teased: “Complete the fun trail and solve the clues to earn your Easter treat!” Full details can be found here .

Polesden Lacey

Easter Egg Hunt: Cooking up a feast with Grizwald the Griffin

Polesden Lacey has been described as the perfect place for an Easter adventure thanks to its verdant views across the Surrey Hills. This is according to the National Trust which has invited visitors to follow an interactive trail around the grounds set to include plenty of fun activities for the whole family.

The National Trust said: “Spring has sprung and this year one of Polesden Lacey’s statues has come to life in a new Easter trail. Grizwald the Griffin is cooking up an Easter feast but has never celebrated Easter before so may need some help to figure out what to cook.”

A gold bunny hunt is returning to Hampton Court Palace this Easter back by popular demand so families can experience the magic of the event. The Palace invited: “Embark on a captivating adventure as you explore the iconic gardens of Hampton Court Palace and discover the remarkable individuals who left their mark on the historic masterpiece.

“Roam through Henry VIII’s lush gardens, keeping your eyes peeled for elusive Lindt gold bunny statues peeking out from colourful daffodils or early buds from the Tulip Festival. The National Trust said Easter would not be complete without an Easter egg hunt, and we agree. Claremont Landscape Garden is hosting a bunny-themed trail that promises a treat for the whole family.

The National Trust said: “Engage all your senses with fun challenges that test your agility, wits and creativity. From exploring the play area to simply relaxing by the lake. This historic royal landscape is a great place to spend time together.”

Hatchlands Park has been called a glorious place to scamper along woodland paths on an adventure this Easter as one of the largest country estates in Surrey. Families have been invited to take part in a giant Easter egg hunt at RHS Garden Wisley to win a chocolate prize and discover the garden in all its spring glory. Organisers said: “Follow our garden trail and help the Easter Bunny find his friends who are playing hide and seek at Wisley.

“As you explore, search for the giant eggs decorated with brand new competition-winning designs, and learn all about spring and what you can do at home for nature and wildlife.” They added: “Once you’ve found all the eggs, you’ll be rewarded with a free chocolatey treat.” Further details can be found here .

Winkworth Arboretum

The National Trust has asked youngsters to hop to Winkworth to help Basil the Bunny start his first day as the Easter Bunny's assistant. It invited: “Become Basil's alarm clock, race him to work, and meet his Easter friends.”

The National Trust described: “Winkworth Arboretum comes to life in early spring with waxy magnolia blooms and swathes of daffodils. Winkworth is a great outdoor space where children can explore nature. The Tree Adventure play area is perfect for active play, with a fireman’s pole, rope tunnel and mini climbing wall.”

Bocketts Farm

Bocketts Farm near Leatherhead will host an Easter trail, tractor and trailer ride, meet the shepherd experiences, and an Easter Grotto to allow youngsters the chance to meet the Easter Bunny himself. Egg rolling will happen across the Easter weekend at Box Hill

The National Trust invited families to Box Hill across the Easter weekend and holidays to take part in Easter adventure trails and egg-rolling. It said: “Follow the Easter trail through the wooded play trail at Box Hill with lots of activities and challenges along the way.”

And added: “Easter wouldn't be complete without the traditional egg rolling from the viewpoint at Box Hill. Bring your fabulously decorated hard-boiled egg for a mass roll down the hill at 11am and 3pm over the bank holiday weekend. The best decorated egg will win a prize. Come early if you’d like to visit the free egg decorating station to get egg-ready.”

Hindhead Commons

Visitors to Runnymede and Ankerwycke can join a spring showers-themed Easter egg hunt across the Easter weekend. The National Trust invited: “Wander through the meadows and find our activity station as you go, including Welly Wanging, Wheelbarrow Racing, and Smelly Wellies.”
