Our PedalPower Cycle Parade will be happening at 11.00am Sunday 11th May 2025 along a 7km route. The theme is bees and flowers, with many of the participants putting on colourful costumes. Join us with your funnest bees and flowers costume and decorated bike at any of the four pick up points of the parade for a buzzing good time. The pick-up points are Bangor Circle, Mount Argus Park, Harold’s Cross Park and Parnell Road (Fire station) for final Kiddie Kilometre ending at Eamonn Ceannt Park.
Registration for the parade is mandatory.

PedalPower Dublin is a FREE cycling event for all ages and abilities, taking place in Sundrive Velodrome, Eamonn Ceannt Park, Crumlin from 12noon to 4.00pm on Sunday 11th May.
A wide range of family-friendly outdoor events will be held in the park to get people moving and to promote a more sustainable urban mobility culture, such as children’s activities, food trucks, bike maintenance workshops, BMX demonstrations, pedal-powered workshops and much more!
Our PedalPower Cycle Parade will be happening immediately before the festival at 11.00am along a 7km route. The theme is bees and flowers, with many of the participants putting on colourful costumes. This survey – which will go live at the beginning of Dublin Climate Action Week - invites you to tell us how we can move Dublin away from fossil fuels and make our capital a clean and healthy county to live, work and visit.
Your views are very important as it will guide us in how we can better engage the public around the energy we use at home, at work, and while on the move. It will also help to inform how we can reduce Dublin’s reliance on fossil fuels towards 2030 and beyond, including areas to prioritise.
The results of the survey will be announced at this year’s Decarbonising Dublin Summit on 21st October.

Abhainn by Rosie O’Reilly is being hosted on the Dublin Discovery Trails app. It consists of 7 distinct episodes that create a love letter to Dublin’s rivers, to the life they hold and make possible and the people who care for them. Abhainn will take its participants on a unique journey through the city of Dublin, a journey through both liminal and covert places, their stories woven together to create a walk through the city though a distinct hydro-lens. Abhainn asks what happens when we shift the focus and talk about the city through its water and hydrological systems? What can water and the rivers and their inhabitants teach us when we acknowledge water is the continuum that holds the city together?

South Dublin County Council are delighted to offer your school two free workshops in your school, delivered by the ReDiscovery Centre.
The free Workshops are 90 minutes in duration and can be delivered in your classroom or at the ReDiscovery Centre in Ballymun. You will need to arrange your own transport if you would like to attend the centre in Ballymun.
Each workshop will be delivered to one class of 30 students (max) and the workshop is suitable for First Year to Transition Year. The aim of the workshops is to raise awareness among students about environmental problems. Through interactive activities students will explore the topic and empower them to take actions to contribute to environmental issues.
Please contact academy@rediscoverycentre.ie early to book the workshops and avoid disappointment.

Celebrate Dublin Climate Action Week 2025 by joining us in the dlr LexIcon Studio, Queens Road, Dún Laoghaire as we put the spotlight on Ireland’s diverse and brilliant bird species. Hosted by DLR’s Climate Action, Biodiversity and Libraries Teams, the event will begin with an insightful talk from Anne Murray, Biodiversity Officer, about the interesting birds to be found here in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown - including our migrating winter and summer visitors, their amazing journeys and how we can protect them.
Following the talk, you can enjoy a screening of Birdsong, a poignant documentary that captures the journey of Ornithologist Seán Ronayne from Cobh, Co. Cork, who is on a mission to record the sound of every bird species in Ireland – that’s nearly 200 birds! The film directed by Kathleen Harris and produced by Ross Whitaker and Aideen O'Sullivan, takes viewers on an immersive journey, highlighting the importance of birds in our ecosystems and the many ways they inspire and enrich our lives.
Whether you’re an avid birdwatcher, a nature enthusiast, or simply curious about the natural world, this event will provide a space to connect with extraordinary sounds and magnificent displays of Ireland’s bird species. Join us at this free home energy saving event in the Dundrum Methodist Church and learn how to save money on your bills and reduce your energy consumption.
Codema - Dublin’s Energy Agency will be showcasing Home Energy Savings Kits, which will assist you to measure your energy usage and are available to loan from dlr libraries. You will also be able to get advice on how to read and fully understand your gas and electricity bills from the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities representative.
Rev. Taylor will talk about the significant energy upgrades made to Dundrum Methodist Church last year and his experience of using funding from the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications’ Community Climate Action Programme. If you are considering upgrading your home to generate energy savings, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland representative will provide details on the grants available to support such projects.
Light refreshments will be served, during which there will be opportunities to ask the speakers questions on any of the topics shared or any other energy saving measures relevant to you.

This event is a guided walk, where participants will listen to a specially created podcast exploring the changing landscape of our forests over seasons, years and millennia. The walk is from the upper Car Park at Ticknock Forest to Fairy Castle and lasts about an hour. Participants will download the podcast to their own device in advance and the group will be guided by Dublin Mountains Partnership volunteer rangers. Headphones are required to listen to the podcast, and appropriate footwear for hilly uneven ground is essential.

Information on the event
In its Climate Action Plan 2024-2029 Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has committed to ‘update its Coastal Defence Strategy Report to advise future protection measures and implement them as necessary.’ Subsequent to the publication of the Council’s Coastal Defence Strategy (CCDS) Report in 2010, a number of the recommendations have been implemented, further erosion and damage to the coastline has been observed and some of the guidance, (regarding extreme events, environmental issues and funding), has been modified. In light of such changes the Council has recently reviewed the CCDS Report. At this event a summary of its findings, the relevant changes since 2010 and how these changes relate to the Council’s Coastal Defence Strategy Study will be presented.
The East Coast Railway Infrastructure Protection Projects were established to provide improved coastal protection against predicted climate change effects on the railway corridor between the Merrion Gates and Wicklow Harbour. In recent years, Iarnród Éireann has seen an increase in the frequency of storm events on this critical piece of its rail network. At this event the project team will explain the necessary enhanced coastal protection planned to be delivered at one of the key locations in the county vulnerable to the impacts of coastal erosion.
Both presentations will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions, light refreshments will be served followed by a site visit to Seapoint - one of the climate vulnerable locations.

A workshop for Dublin Bike Week with Michelle Browne
Listening to the City is a series of audio guides developed by artist and curator Michelle Browne to create insight and empathy into the way different city users experience the city. Join us for Listening to the City III, where you the public, both adults and children from 7 years old, are invited to create your own audio description of the city. What routes do you cycle, walk, or scoot? How do you experience these routes: what sights, sounds or smells are part of your everyday experiences of moving through Dublin and its suburbs? Together we will create an online audio map to share our experiences of the city with the wider public.
This workshop is a joint collaboration between Dublin City Council and Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and will be hosted at IMMA.

Join us at Kelly’s Bay Open Orchard as we tend to the oldest and largest mini orchard in the Skerries Open Orchard Project. We'll kick off with a short introduction to the thinking behind our mini orchards and how they support biodiversity and climate action in Skerries.
Then it's time to roll up our sleeves! We'll be clearing unwanted growth from around the base of the trees, giving them some well-deserved food and compost, and watering them—unless the rain does it for us.
After our hands-on orchard care, we'll make our way back to Mourne View Community Centre for some well-earned refreshments.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty, and bring warm shoes if the weather is cool.
