The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is designed to enrich biology learning and teaching, particularly at A-level and key stage 4, through the experience and excitement of real-world bioscience. ABE provides schools and colleges with free CPD training, equipment loans and all the consumables needed to run molecular biology practicals.
Course 2 covers PCR, transformation and DNA profiling.
ABE is an international programme, and the University of Hull is an established hub.
This full day CPD session takes place on the University of Hull campus. It is for teachers and technicians who have previously attended our introductory course, Manipulating DNA in the classroom (Course 1). After the course you will be able to borrow equipment that will enable you to carry out PCR and other DNA manipulation labs in your classroom.
Each new school/college needs to book places for TWO people, one teacher and one technician. Trainee teachers may book a single place.
A contribution of £300 is available for supply cover providing both a teacher and technician attend.
Further information available from AMGEN Biotech Experience website (University at Herfordshire).
The course will take place on the University of Hull campus, joining instructions will be sent closer to the event.
