'The Wilton Diptych' at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford
DESCRIPTION
The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford’s museum of art and archaeology, founded in 1683. Their world-famous collections range from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art, telling human stories across cultures and across time.
'The Wilton Diptych's' temporary home in the Ashmolean will be in the England 400–1600 Gallery, alongside the museum’s 'Cloth of Gold', the funeral pall of Henry VII.
A short film will introduce the diptych, and a specially produced audio guide will explore its iconography in more depth and examine how the diptych relates to the artefacts around it.
The diptych will also feature in the Family Festival of Art with activities planned in the gallery.
