Since Sophie has been with us, she has won over the hearts of everyone she has met with her friendly attitude, and her wagging tail. Once she has had a run around the garden, she will happily leap onto a lap and curl up for a cuddle and a snooze. She honestly does seem to think she is the size of a terrier, as she curls up in a ball on any lap that is free, and is so appealing that no-one wants to move her!
Sophie has been lucky enough to spend a lot of her time in a foster home, which has given us a lovely insight into how she is in a home environment. It only took a few nights to settle, and she has been clean overnight and during the day. She has been enjoying walks twice a day, and has loved meeting new people out and about. Sophie would need to be the only dog in the home as she isn't comfortable in the company of other dogs, however out and about she can be easily managed around them.
Sophie travels well in the car, and usually settles down. She is not sick or worried. We suspect she may be a little hard of hearing, and will also easily get distracted by the idea of chasing birds or squirrels, so does need to stay on a lead for her safety when out and about.
Sophie just LOVES to be around people as much as possible, so would suit a home where there is someone around most of the time. Currently she cannot be left for more than 1 hour, and time left alone will need to be built up slowly in a new home.
If you could offer this lovely lady a cozy home, and you don't mind a larger than usual lapdog, who loves to roll in muddy puddles, please complete this Online Application Form.
It is really useful if you can please include lots of information on the type of home you can offer and your previous experience of dogs. Thank you for your interest in adopting; if you do not hear from us within two weeks then unfortunately we have not been able to proceed further with your application at this time.

If you are interested in adopting an animal from West Hatch RSPCA, please have a look on "Find a Pet" in the first instance. Once you have seen an animal you are interested in, you can apply easily online via the link to a google form at the bottom of their profile. Once we receive the application, it will be reviewed by a member of staff, and if you are a suitable match we will then make contact to discuss the animal further. This will be either by email initially or by phone. We will then ask you to email us photos of your home and garden, as well as ID. This continues to replace the homevisit that we would have carried out pre-covid. We can then make an appointment for you to come to the centre to meet your chosen animal before you commit to adoption.
